parts of Mary Lee's house were built prior to 1900, the many additions to it serve as a visual time line
for the architectural changes that have taken place on the island. There is a rich history here. Many of the islanders can trace their lineage back
12 generations or more. You can explore Smith Island's history at the Smith Island Cultural Center, or you may be lucky enough to meet Jennings
Evans, a retired crabber
who enjoys documenting and sharing the island's past. Many of his stories have been published in the quaint Smith Island Times, which is here for you to read during your stay.
alm and quiet charm define our small bayside village. Although everything here is within walking distance, you are welcome to borrow our bicycles. If you ask in advance,
